“Mei-Writing is founded on the belief that the most fundamental objective of an academic research paper is to convince its readers to accept the paper’ s thesis statement by demonstrating the logical supports that lead to the thesis statement. Our education goal is to help students publish their research paper. For this purpose, we ask our students to develop, in writing the paper, a clear research idea and a logical argument that provides a convincing support for the idea. Our overall pedagogy focuses on teaching our students how to bridge the gap between writing and thinking. Under this approach, students learn how to think logically so that their thoughts can be expressed properly through words.„

Summer Camp

Annual "Mei-Writing Summer Camp" is a great opportunity to learn about and improve upon the academic writing skills in an outdoor, fun-filled environment. We interviewed Nathan Hamlitsch, who joined the summer camp as the camp organizer in 2013, and Ikue Suzuki, who is the Mei-Writing coordinator in charge of administrative affairs.

At the workshops Prof. Lai will introduce you a special method for thinking and writing logically. He will present you a set of logical thinking skills which are exclusively designed for academic writing. And he will teach you, through a step-by-step guidance, how you can practically apply those skills in your writing.
